The 3rd AnnualBest Doorknockers Christmas Pageant Ever
Do you like things like the things that are the things I like? Many of you do. I know it. And if you even think you may be counted among those many, then seriously, come to this show. It has quickly become my favorite LA holiday tradition—a Santa Claus sack-style grab-bag of all things comedic, chaotic, beautiful, baffling, touching, terrible, and lose-your-shit hilarious, i.e., it is by far the most fun, bizarre, and insanely sweet Christmas show in town! At one point last year, there was a very legitimately talented opera singer belting out a dramatic aria while The John 3 Reillys (a musical vocal group consisting of three John C Reilly impersonators) watched from the stage next to her, one sobbing so heavily into an adorable puppy, he collapsed to the stage, writhing in agony, and periodically blowing his nose into the confused dog.
Okay, you probably had to be there—but that’s my point! That’s exactly my point! Because if we share a comedic sensibility, and this show is the kind of borderline out-of-control hayride you can’t comprehend isn’t everyone’s idea of a Christmasy good time, you have to come to this show. I am confident that even if it totally sucks shit, it will somehow manage to be so funny—specifically because it sucked shit—that I and those like me will still love it, and one day look back fondly upon that Christmasy night in 2011 when we sucked all that shit. That is how hard I’m endorsing this show—real hard.
